Ballarat’s tramways ran from 1887 until September 19, 1971 when closed under pressure from the State Electricity Commission and the complicity of the state of Victoria and the City of Ballarat council.

With public pressure building to save some of the tramway, preservation efforts took place to keep the city’s tramway history alive. The final result of that effort was the Ballarat Tramway Museum. The list below leads to my images for each tram in the museum’s collection.

For more information about our collection and activities you should visit the museum’s website and the Museum’s Facebook page.
